The 2008 Pilgrimage for peace will begin from New London, Connecticut on Sunday, September 28, and make a circuit through Rhode Island and Massachusetts to Manchester, New Hampshire. The pilgrims will split in Boston, with half going north to Manchester and half west to Springfield, Massachusetts. The groups will reunite at Hartford, Connecticut, and continue through Connecticut to New Haven and finish up back in New London on Sunday, November 9.
Our plan this year is to visit not only churches, synagogues and mosques but also schools, colleges and seminars. Pilgrims are welcome to join for a week or a weekend, or a day or two, anywhere along the route. Major cities are listed so you can choose when and where you wish to join in the Pilgrimage.
Observances occurring during Pilgrimage include:
- International Day of Peace (Sept. 21)
- September 11
- Rosh Hashanah (Sep. 29)
- Yom Kippur (Oct. 9)
- Eid Al-Fitr (the conclusion of Ramadan, Oct. 2)
- St. Fracis Day (Oct. 4)
- Reformation Day (Oct. 31)
- All Saints Day (Nov.1) and
- All Souls (Nov. 2)
- Election Day in the United States is November 4.
